Your Wedding Ensemble

21 May

Your Wedding Ensemble

Hello everyone. In my last two articles we looked at the meaning of colors as it relates to your wedding as well as different wedding types. In this blog I want to look at your wedding ensemble.

Now be honest…what do you think of when you hear the term wedding ensemble? Is it the invitations and maybe the response cards alone? How much importance do you attach to your wedding ensemble? Or, maybe I should ask first is, “What is a wedding ensemble?”

Well, your wedding ensemble is a collection of cards and envelopes that are designed in such a way to send your wedding messages in a stylish and efficient manner. So what are we talking about when we use the term wedding ensemble? Let’s look at what they are.

The Invitation

This is one of the most important aspects of your wedding ensemble. This document contains the majority of the information that you need to have as it introduces the couple as well as the date, time and place of the ceremony.

The Reception Card

This aspect of your wedding ensemble allows the guests to be aware of the time, place and location of the event as this should not be written on your wedding invitation.

The Response Card

The Response Card, as its name suggests, should be returned to you so that you will know who would be attending the reception as this makes planning easier for you. This card accompanies the invitation and the response card.

Enclosures

Enclosures- These are small cards that are used to provide the guests with some more details than the invitation contains.

Pew Cards

Pew Cards-These are mainly used in the ultra formal wedding type and are usually included in the invitations of the guests that are considered to be of distinction. Such guests may be close family members or specially invited guests. Upon arrival, these guests present these cards so that they can be seated in their designated seats.

Map Cards

Map cards- These are usually used to cater for guests that are out of town and may have some difficulty in finding their way to the wedding ceremony or to the reception site.

If it is true that the wedding invitation is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of your wedding ensemble, you may have a good reason. The other aspects of your wedding ensemble are very important as well but this one seems to be particularly important since your wedding invitation style gives your guests an idea about the wedding type, the dress code, the length of ceremony etc.

Your wedding favors should not be forgotten though as they are a token of appreciation and they allow your guests to share in this special moment with you. What Is Your Wedding Type?

21 May

WHAT IS YOUR WEDDING TYPE?

In my previous article, we talked about the meaning of colors as they pertain to your wedding. I hope that the article was useful in helping you choose your wedding color. Today I want to look at the different types of wedding there are to help you choose the type of wedding you want. In an effort to help you plan for that special day it is important to determine what category your wedding falls under so that everything can be well coordinated as well as having a wedding that suits your taste and personality. It is crucial to consider the formality of your wedding so that all the components can fit accordingly. Let’s look at the different types of wedding you will be likely to hear about…

Ultra Formal Weddings

If you are hosting an ultra formal wedding you should want a more formal wedding dress and you would want your bridesmaids to wear more formal dresses as well. This type of wedding is one that is filled with tradition where the bride wears an ivory dress, a train and a veil. Length is an important factor here, since, the longer the dress, the more formal is considered to be. The bridal party is also dressed in traditional wear. The groomsmen are dressed in grey or black, the bridesmaids wear full length dresses as well as the mother-in-law. Ultra formal weddings are likely to take place in the traditional church which is beautifully decorated in colors that go with your color scheme and they usually take place in the afternoon or evening.

The color scheme is also an important factor to consider, since colors further define the formality of the event. Darker colors such as black, dark purples, deep reds give off a more formal feel.

Formal Weddings

This type of wedding has many of the characteristics of the traditional ultra formal wedding but on a smaller scale. The wedding dress is floor length as well with a veil and a train. The bridesmaids also wear full length dresses. The groom is likely to be in a tuxedo. This type of wedding will also take place in the afternoon or evening. The bridal party will also be likely to be dressed in the dark colors that were mentioned above.

Gold and silver hues can also look very formal.

Semi Formal Weddings

A semi formal wedding is not as traditional as the ultra formal or the formal and is less elaborate. Your wedding dress can be floor length in white, ivory or you may use a pastel shade. A semi formal bridal party may consist of a bride dressed in a material such as chiffon and may not feature much lace or beading. The veil of the bride may be shorter and a wreath of fresh flowers may be worn.

Informal Weddings

For informal weddings the bride’s dress is usually much shorter. The dress may be knee to mid calf length and may resemble a cocktail or a party dress.  Such brides usually do not wear veils. They may wear instead flowers in their hair. The groom may be dressed in a light suit. Although this type of wedding is without the pomp and glory, it can be as beautifully memorable.

Your bridal party is such an integral part of making your special day more memorable for you. No matter what type of wedding you decide to have it would be e nice gesture to show your appreciation with a bridal shower favor that suits the level of formality of your wedding. You can show your appreciation with appropriate bridesmaids gifts, groomsmen gifts as well as seasonal gifts at

The Meaning of Colors for your Wedding

How much importance do you attach to the color scheme you have chosen for your wedding? Would you just pick a color at random or would you choose a color that you think is in? Personally I used to think that you should just pick a color that is in or, just choose one of the hottest colors for 2010. I also thought that it would make sense to pick a color that goes well with your complexion. All that is up to you, but if you are the type of person who likes to know the true meaning of things, and in this case, colors, here are some tips you may want to consider when choosing the color scheme for your wedding…

Blue– This bridal color is believed to represent s commitment to marriage, blissful happiness and endless love.

Burgundy– This is a bridal color that represents elegance and sophistication.

Ivory- This bridal color represents grace and charm.

Lavender – This bridal color represents a combination of passion and romance.

Peach – This bridal color gives a tone of tranquility, harmony and peace.

Pink –This bridal color is said to be a somewhat traditional color .It represents femininity, innocence and romance.

Red – Red is said to be the color of love. It is a strong and bold bridal color that depicts intense emotions and at the same time showing charm and style.

Black and White – This striking contrast creates a wedding of distinction and is the ultimate in elegance and sophistication.

Your wedding colors are very important since they set the tone for your wedding and can create a big impact. Your colors are not just important when you are thinking about the bridal party or for the bridal bouquet or for the decorations that you want to use. What some people do not remember to consider is that the color scheme for your wedding has to incorporate your entire wedding ensemble. It incorporates from the invitation, wedding programme, guest book, the reception card, place cards, table cards, seating scrolls, and the response card, enclosures to pew cards, map cards, thank you cards and cake boxes not forgetting your wedding favors.

Every one of these components of your wedding ensemble should contain at least a touch of the color that you have chosen for your bridal color scheme. If you are looking for bridal shower gifts, it would be nice to choose those that go with the bridal color scheme as well.

Don’t you think that considering the meaning of your wedding color would make choosing a color much easier for you?
